NJ Senate OKs Bill To Block Pregnancy Discrimination

Law360, New York (November 19, 2013, 9:29 PM EST) -- The New Jersey Senate on Monday approved a bill that would create a bright-line prohibition on post-hire workplace discrimination against pregnant women, following amendments to the legislation that created more latitude for businesses.

The state Senate unanimously approved S-2995, the Pregnant Women’s Fairness Act, which would add language to the state’s Law Against Discrimination to bar employers from treating pregnant women less favorably than others who aren’t pregnant but have similar work abilities.
