2nd Sugary Drink Tax Floated In San Francisco

Law360, New York (November 19, 2013, 4:46 PM EST) -- San Francisco now has two proposals to tax sugary drinks in the city after Supervisor Eric Mar on Tuesday unveiled a proposal strikingly similar to one released in late October by Supervisor Scott Wiener.

As with Wiener's proposal, Mar's legislation aims to impose a 2 cents-per-ounce tax on distributors who hawk soda and other sugary drinks and expects to raise $30 million that will be used to fund health and nutrition programs.
