Apple Strikes First To Address New iPod Threat

Law360, New York (January 6, 2006, 12:00 AM EST) -- Emboldened after winning a $60 million settlement from Microsoft Corp. last year, a small technology company is now eyeing Apple Computers Inc. and key features of its digital music player iPod.

Apple struck first, suing media delivery technology company Burst.com Inc. in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, seeking declaratory judgment that the rival’s patents are invalid and not infringed.
