Unions Sue Waterfront Commission Over Hiring Changes

Law360, New York (November 25, 2013, 10:19 PM EST) -- The New York Shipping Association Inc. and International Longshoreman’s Association, along with three labor unions, sued The Waterfront Commission of New York Harbor in New Jersey federal court Friday, accusing it of interfering with their collective bargaining process.

The suit alleges that the state agency has issued regulations beyond its authority and has changed the requirements for hiring a class of workers in violation of the Waterfront Commission Compact and federal labor law.
