Brazilian Airline Fined For Breaching Transparency Rules

Law360, New York (November 26, 2013, 4:38 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Transportation penalized Brazilian airline VRG Linhas Aereas SA $250,000 on Tuesday for violating five DOT rules aimed at service and pricing transparency, the largest fine yet issued under a set of passenger protections adopted in 2011.

The DOT’s Aviation Enforcement Office found that for an unspecified period since its November 2012 launch, VRG’s consumer-facing website had lacked a variety of disclosures and features mandated under the agency's so-called Enhancing Airline Passenger Protections rule-making package.
