Weaknesses Remain In IRS Data Security, Treasury Says

Law360, New York (December 2, 2013, 1:58 PM EST) -- The Internal Revenue Service has improved its information security, but the agency needs to do more to combat an ongoing barrage of cyberattacks, according to a watchdog agency report made public Monday.

The report, released by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration, says that it no longer considers information security to be a material weakness of the agency, but that more work is needed in system access controls, audit trails and remediation of security weaknesses.
