Genesco Unit Agrees To Settle Pa. Overtime Class Action

By Matt Fair (December 2, 2013, 3:20 PM EST) -- A worker who says that a subsidiary of Genesco Inc. failed to pay him proper overtime rates in accordance with the Pennsylvania Minimum Wage Act recently asked a state judge to sign off on a $500,000 settlement aimed at ending class claims from nearly 200 other employees.

The settlement, which would make $352,600 in proceeds available to nearly 200 workers at more than 50 retail locations across the state, would end claims brought by Harrington Kershner in August 2012 alleging that the company improperly relied on the so-called fluctuating workweek model to calculate overtime wages in violation of state law requiring...
