Austin Attorney Gets 20 Years For Judicial Bribery Scam

Law360, New York (December 4, 2013, 2:59 PM EST) -- A Texas federal judge sentenced an Austin-based attorney to 20 years in prison on Tuesday for bribing a former state judge in exchange for favorable rulings.

U.S. District Judge Andrew S. Hanen doled out the maximum 20-year sentence to Marc Garrett Rosenthal after a seven-hour hearing in Texas federal court. The judge also ordered Rosenthal to pay $13.3 million in restitution.  

In addition, Judge Hanen acquitted the Texas attorney of a second count of mail fraud Tuesday, leaving Rosenthal with convictions on the remaining 11 charges...
