Madoff Accountant Case May Be Too Old, Defense Atty Says

Law360, New York (December 3, 2013, 7:19 PM EST) -- Bernard Madoff's former personal accountant may argue that the government waited too long to bring a criminal case over his alleged involvement in Madoff's Ponzi scheme, his lawyer said Tuesday.

Paul Konigsberg may try to have charges of fraudulent bookkeeping thrown out on statute of limitations grounds, defense lawyer Reed Brodsky of Gibson Dunn & Crutcher LLP said at a hearing in Manhattan federal court.
