EU Expected To OK Google-DoubleClick Deal

Law360, New York (March 6, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The European Commission is reportedly poised to approve Google Inc.'s acquisition of the online advertising firm DoubleClick Inc. without any conditions.

Dow Jones reported Wednesday, citing an anonymous source, that Google had not yet received a formal “statement of objection” from the European Commission directorate general that oversees competition law. Such a statement is a necessary step in the European merger review process on the way to blocking, or imposing conditions on, a merger.
