Abbott Settles NY False Ad Case Over Children's Drinks

Law360, New York (December 4, 2013, 1:31 PM EST) -- Abbott Laboratories Inc. has settled a false advertising case with New York state, agreeing to pay $25,000 and stop using commercials that show energized children who drink its vitamin-enhanced SideKicks beverages scoring goals against sluggish kids who do not consume the product.

After the $58 billion health products giant began airing various ads for SideKicks in 2010, the consumer frauds bureau of New York State Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman's office began an investigation that ultimately concluded Abbott could not back up its claim that the drinks...
