Mammoth Institutional Investors Cornering RE Market

Law360, New York (December 5, 2013, 5:21 PM EST) -- A small group of highly capitalized institutional investors will account for 84 percent of all institutional real estate investment in the near future, according to Preqin Ltd.'s latest data, tightening competition for the best properties and edging out newer, smaller fund managers.

By Preqin's count, only 9 percent of the institutional investors that commit any amount of investment to real estate have allocated $1 billion or more, but that small group accounts for 84 percent of total capital allocated to real estate.
