Fla. Justices Suspend Atty For 1 Year Over Immigration Case

Law360, Miami (December 5, 2013, 7:51 PM EST) -- The Florida Supreme Court suspended Deerfield Beach, Fla., attorney Max Ricardo Whitney for one year after alleged improper actions during the course of representing two clients in an immigration case, saying his conduct warranted more than the 90 days recommended by a referee.

Whitney's offenses included billing two unnecessary trips to Brazil for alleged research for his clients, at least one of which was found to be mostly for pleasure, failing to comply with court orders and providing false testimony in a subsequent malpractice lawsuit, according...
