Va. Wind Research Facility Sails Over Regulatory Hurdle

Law360, New York (December 6, 2013, 3:15 PM EST) -- Virginia’s plan to develop an offshore wind energy research facility cleared a key regulatory hurdle Friday as the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management determined no other parties are interested in using the selected area for wind projects.

The action taken by BOEM clears the way for the Virginia Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy to submit a formal proposal for wind energy research activities that will be conducted at the facility to be located on the outer continental shelf off the coast of Virginia....
