Fla. Chamber Of Commerce Backs Expedia In Bed Tax Fight

Law360, Miami (December 10, 2013, 11:37 AM EST) -- The Florida Chamber of Commerce on Friday backed online travel companies led by Expedia Inc. fighting Florida counties over how to apply the state's bed tax, arguing that taxing the booking companies' service fees could negatively affect the state's business climate.

In an amicus brief filed with the Florida Supreme Court, the business organization said that the state's 1977 Tourist Development Tax and 1949 Transient Rentals Tax should be applied to only the hotel room rate and not to any additional compensation kept by online booking...
