NJ Town Atty, Pol Charged With Election Tampering

Law360, New York (December 10, 2013, 6:35 PM EST) -- A New Jersey municipal attorney has been charged alongside a local Republican politician with tampering with primary election petitions, authorities announced Tuesday.

Bergen County lawyer Scott Mooney, the attorney for the borough of Emerson and a municipal prosecutor for the Central Municipal Court of Hackensack, conspired with Ronald R. Griffin, a councilman-elect in Emerson, to add candidates to nominating petitions that already had been signed, according to Bergen County prosecutor John L. Molinelli.
