Gov. Walker Signs Contested Wis. Landlord-Tenant Bill

Law360, New York (December 12, 2013, 7:51 PM EST) -- Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker on Thursday signed a controversial bill that gives landlords the authority to dispose of evicted tenants’ belongings without any notice and evict a tenant if a crime occurs on the property and the tenant was in a position to prevent it.

The act also reduces the amount of time a tenant facing eviction has to respond to a summons from 30 days to 25 days and allows landlords to immediately tow any unauthorized vehicle on the property without notice.
