IRS Pick Sent To Full Senate For Confirmation Vote

Law360, New York (December 13, 2013, 2:52 PM EST) -- The Senate Finance Committee on Friday voted to confirm John Koskinen to lead the Internal Revenue Service, sending his nomination to the full Senate.

In the wake of allegations that the IRS targeted conservative groups for audits and amid debate over proposed rules that threaten the tax-exempt status of politically active nonprofit groups, the committee’s Friday voice vote came after two days of hearings that focused on renewing the public's confidence that taxes are collected without political motive.
