7th Circ. Says Insurance Rates Can Reflect Unlisted Factors

Law360, Los Angeles (December 13, 2013, 9:07 PM EST) -- The Seventh Circuit on Friday affirmed a decision granting summary judgment to Lincoln Benefit Life Co. in a putative class action brought by a policyholder who said LBL breached the terms of its insurance policies by including nondisclosed factors in its method of calculating the “cost of insurance” rate.

Dennis Norem, the current owner of a variable life insurance policy issued by LBL, filed the suit in 2010 on behalf of himself and others seeking to recover amounts that the company charged on life insurance policies...
