China Threatens Arrest Of InterDigital Execs, Co. Says

Law360, New York (December 16, 2013, 10:12 PM EST) -- InterDigital's dispute with Chinese companies and authorities relating to its patented wireless technology escalated Monday when the company announced it would not send executives to meet with Chinese authorities over the nation's monopoly probe due to threats of detention or imprisonment.

In a letter to China’s economic oversight agency, the National Development and Reform Commission, InterDigital CEO William Merritt said that the firm would not send its executives to the Dec. 18 meeting in light of the threat, which he said also extends to U.S. counsel...
