Fed. Circ. Upholds Motorola Import Ban In Microsoft IP Case

Law360, New York (December 16, 2013, 6:04 PM EST) -- The Federal Circuit on Monday affirmed a U.S. International Trade Commission ruling that Google Inc.'s Motorola Mobility LLC infringed a Microsoft Corp. smartphone patent, leaving in place an import ban on some Motorola devices.

At oral arguments in August, attorneys for Motorola, which had conceded that its products infringe, urged the appeals court to overturn the import ban by arguing that Microsoft's patent on a way of synchronizing information was a "poster child of obviousness."
