Adidas Launches Infringement Suit Against Online Knockoffs

Law360, New York (December 17, 2013, 12:13 PM EST) -- Athletic apparel giant Adidas AG and its affiliated business units filed a copyright infringement suit in Florida federal court Monday aimed at ceasing the sale of goods it claims infringe on its registered trademarks through nearly 100 online stores fraudulently bearing the company's name.

In its complaint, the company accused various unnamed partnerships and unincorporated business associations of cybersquatting, or fraudulently registering Internet domains with the Adidas name to facilitate the sale of goods that infringe on Adidas trademarks.
