NJ Sen. Looks To Speed Hearings For High Court Nominees

Law360, New York (December 17, 2013, 5:43 PM EST) -- A New Jersey Senate ally of Gov. Chris Christie announced a measure Tuesday to prevent lawmakers from filibustering gubernatorial nominees to the state Supreme Court, arguing that Democrats have unreasonably delayed hearings on candidates.

Sen. Kevin O'Toole, R-Bergen, is proposing the resolution following the Senate's quick confirmation of Justice Faustino Fernandez-Vina, but while two nominees that the governor announced in December 2012, state Board of Public Utilities President Robert Hanna and Monmouth County Superior Court Judge David Bauman, have languished without hearings.
