Ex-Jenner & Block Client Fights $4.4M Arbitration Award

Law360, Dallas (January 2, 2014, 8:54 PM EST) -- A patent holding company contesting an arbitrator’s award of $4.4 million in legal fees for Jenner & Block LLP told a Texas appeals court the firm wrongly wants Texas courts to outsource their responsibility for regulating the legal profession to arbitrators without judicial oversight.

In a reply brief filed with the Fifth Court of Appeals on Dec. 20, Parallel Networks LLC argued Jenner & Block wants to use the Federal Arbitration Act as an excuse to avoid public policy protections that bar unethical attorney-client fee agreements....
