Nigerian Plaintiffs Move To Drop Chevron Claims

Law360, New York (March 12, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In an unusual move, a group of Nigerians who contend that Chevron Corp. authorized the military to gun down demonstrators protesting the oil giant's presence in the country have moved to drop half of the claims from their long-standing complaint.

The plaintiffs' attorneys filed a motion to dismiss in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California last week, asking the judge to allow them to withdraw a slew of allegations against Chevron involving a January 1999 incident.
