Pa. Lawmakers Press Congress To Pass E-Commerce Tax Bill

Law360, New York (January 6, 2014, 6:17 PM EST) -- With support from both Democrats and Republicans, the Pennsylvania legislature has passed a law urging the U.S. Congress and President Barack Obama to adopt the Marketplace Fairness Act, legislation that ensures equal taxation between online and brick-and-mortar purchases.

Currently, online retailers like Amazon and Overstock escape paying Pennsylvania state sales tax because they are based in another state, and according to Pennsylvania Rep. Justin Simmons, R-Lehigh, this costs Pennsylvania over $400 million in tax revenues each year.
