Philips, Mitsubishi Drop Video Patent Suit Against Motorola

Law360, Los Angeles (January 6, 2014, 9:57 PM EST) -- Koninklijke Philips N.V. and Mitsubishi Electric Corp. last week agreed to drop a lawsuit claiming that Motorola Mobility LLC's set-top cable boxes infringe seven patents covering video-compression technology, according to court records. 

U.S. District Judge Donald M. Middlebrooks on Monday approved a Dec. 30 joint stipulation in which Philips, Mitsubishi and the French corporation Thomson Licensing agreed to dismiss with prejudice their claims against Motorola. Pursuant to the stipulation, all of Motorola's counterclaims in the suit were dismissed without prejudice.
