Ex-Goldman Trader Tourre Loses Bid For New Trial

Law360, New York (January 7, 2014, 2:08 PM EST) -- A New York federal judge on Tuesday denied a request by former Goldman Sachs Group Inc. trader Fabrice Tourre for a new securities fraud trial, finding his arguments that there was no evidence he profited from the alleged fraud were without merit.

U.S. District Judge Katherine B. Forrest said the jury that found Tourre liable on six of seven counts of fraud for misleading investors in a “built-to-fail” financial project had reached its verdict based on sufficient evidence, and that the jurors had not been misled...
