Judge Urges Sanctions Against EEOC In Womble Carlyle Suit

Law360, New York (January 7, 2014, 6:40 PM EST) -- A North Carolina court should impose sanctions on the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission because a worker the agency claims was wrongfully axed by Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice LLP destroyed evidence, a federal magistrate judge recommended Monday.

The law firm sought sanctions because former Womble Carlyle office assistant Charlesetta Jennings, whom the EEOC claims the firm fired after cancer treatment left her disabled, admitted that after the EEOC commenced its suit she destroyed evidence concerning her efforts to find a new job.
