Zoll Medical Hits Philips With New Suit In Defibrillator IP War

Law360, New York (January 7, 2014, 5:03 PM EST) -- On the heels of a jury finding that both Zoll Medical Corp. and Philips Electronics North America Corp. infringed several of one another’s defibrillator patents, Zoll lodged a new complaint in Massachusetts federal court accusing Philips of violating its patent for a hospital-grade defibrillator.

Tuesday’s suit contends that Philips knowingly infringed U.S. Patent Number 5,391,187 by selling HeartStart XL, a line of defibrillators designed for use by health care professionals that can be operated manually or with through an automated program that offers voice guidance, according...
