US Auto Dealers Settle FTC Deceptive Ad Claims

Law360, New York (January 9, 2014, 4:12 PM EST) -- The Federal Trade Commission said Thursday that nine auto dealers across the country have agreed to settle deceptive advertising charges that led consumers to wrongly believe they were getting certain monthly financing or other purchase deals.

According to the FTC, the dealers made a variety of misrepresentations in print, Internet and video advertisements that violated the Federal Trade Commission Act, falsely leading consumers to believe they could purchase vehicles for low prices, finance vehicles with low monthly payments, and make no upfront payments to lease vehicles....
