NJ Assembly Committee Backs Utility Reliability Measures

Law360, New York (January 9, 2014, 7:20 PM EST) -- A New Jersey General Assembly committee approved bills Thursday that establish reliability standards for electric and gas public utilities in case of natural disasters and create a uniform property tax regime on renewable energy systems.

The bills, including a third that is intended to increase competition in the electric power and gas supply industries, are expected to head to the full Assembly for further consideration. The measure concerning renewable energy-related property taxes must first go to the Assembly Budget Committee.
