Fla. High Court Says Gulf Power Can Service New Development

Law360, Miami (January 9, 2014, 6:46 PM EST) -- The Florida Supreme Court on Thursday upheld a state Public Service Commission decision granting Gulf Power Co. the right to provide electric service to a proposed development in Okaloosa County, saying the original ruling did not stray from the law.

Choctawhatchee Electric Cooperative Inc. had appealed the PSC's resolution to a territorial dispute it had with Gulf Power over the rights to provide service to the residential-commercial development Freedom Walk planned by developer Emerald Coast Partners LLC for 179 acres in the city of Crestview.
