Fla. Sens. Back $380M Draft Bill For Springs Cleanup

Law360, Miami (January 10, 2014, 7:05 PM EST) -- Several prominent Florida state senators have signaled their support Thursday for draft legislation that would provide about $378 million from a state real estate tax for improvement of wastewater treatment and septic tanks in an effort to preserve Florida's freshwater springs and groundwater.

In a meeting among several Senate committee leaders Thursday, Sen. David Simmons, R-Altamonte Springs, Sen. Wilton Simpson, R-Trilby, Sen. Alan Hays, R-Umatilla, and Sen. Bill Montford, D-Tallahassee, agreed to work together on the bill, which will likely be filed by Sen. Charles S....
