Bankruptcy Judge Lifland, Who Oversaw Madoff Case, Dies

Law360, New York (January 13, 2014, 4:44 PM EST) -- U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Burton R. Lifland, who has been winding down the Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC bankruptcy case, died on Sunday.

Judge Lifland was a “beloved colleague,” U.S. Shelley C. Chapman said before the start of a LightSquared Inc. hearing Monday morning. He was 84.
