Monsanto Dodges Supreme Court Review Of Seed IP Case

Law360, New York (January 13, 2014, 7:36 PM EST) -- The U.S. Supreme Court handed Monsanto Co. a win on Monday by refusing to review the dismissal of a suit brought by public interest groups, seed companies and family farmers seeking to block potential litigation stemming from patented Monsanto seeds straying onto growers' fields.

The plaintiffs say they are in danger of being sued by the biotechnology giant if its genetically modified, herbicide-resistant seeds inadvertently wind up on their properties. But the Federal Circuit tossed their case, finding it had been rendered moot by Monsanto’s policy...
