Mass. Commits $50M To Climate Change Readiness

Law360, New York (January 15, 2014, 3:27 PM EST) -- Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick unveiled a $50 million climate change preparedness plan Tuesday, pledging funds for infrastructure improvements and a municipal resilience grant program to better protect the state from climate risks to energy sources and public health.

The plan sets aside $40 million in grants to local governments for bolstering energy services through clean technology. The remaining $10 million will go to coastal infrastructure and dam repair, including cutting risks linked to sea-level rise and massive coastal storms.
