Fla. Court Revives Billionaire's Libel Suit Against Papers

Law360, Miami (January 15, 2014, 2:56 PM EST) -- A Florida appeals court on Wednesday revived a libel suit against the Tampa Bay Times and The Miami Herald over articles linking Palm Beach billionaire and former U.S. Senate candidate Jeff Greene to a mortgage fraudster and alleged illegal drug activities.

Florida's Third District Court of Appeal reversed the dismissal of Greene's suit against the two newspapers, ruling that he had adequately pled his libel claims stemming from allegedly false and defamatory articles that Greene says cost him the Democratic primary election in 2010.
