Firefighter Urges Fla. High Court To Nix Workers' Comp Law

Law360, Miami (January 16, 2014, 7:35 PM EST) -- A disabled Florida firefighter urged the state's highest court Thursday to reverse a lower court's interpretation of limits on temporary disability benefits or find the state's workers' compensation law unconstitutional.

The Florida Supreme Court exercised its discretionary jurisdiction to review the workers' compensation issue at the request of both plaintiff Bradley Westphal and the city of St. Petersburg, his employer, after the First District Court of Appeal in its Sept. 23 opinion certified the case for review.
