Warner Chilcott Contraceptive Patent Upheld By Judge

Law360, Los Angeles (January 17, 2014, 4:18 PM EST) -- A New Jersey federal judge on Friday sided with Warner Chilcott Co. LLC in its patent infringement suits against two companies that planned to make generic versions of Warner’s birth control medication Lo Loestrin Fe, ruling that Lo Loestrin’s formula was not obvious.

U.S. District Judge Joel A. Pisano found that Lupin Ltd. and Amneal Pharmaceuticals LLC’s abbreviated new drug applications, if approved, would have allowed the companies to sell generic versions of Lo Loestrin before its patent expired.
