Gov. Cuomo Picks BofA Settlement Judge For Appellate Post

Law360, New York (January 21, 2014, 8:07 PM EST) -- New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo elevated several judges to the state's midlevel appeals court Friday, including the judge who oversaw a bench trial over a proposed $8.5 billion Bank of America Corp. settlement and a challenge to the state's $5 billion restructuring of bond insurer MBIA Inc.

Cuomo appointed Justice Barbara R. Kapnick, who oversaw the BofA cases, to the First Judicial Department, and chose Justices Colleen Duffy, Hector D. LaSalle and Joseph J. Maltese for the Second Judicial Department.
