Christie Signs NJ Bill Barring Pregnancy Bias

Law360, New York (January 22, 2014, 4:34 PM EST) -- New Jersey companies will have to provide pregnant employees with reasonable accommodations under legislation that Gov. Chris Christie signed Monday banning pregnancy discrimination in the workplace.

Christie's signature follows the bill's overwhelming passage in the state Legislature. The measure, S2995, prohibits workplace discrimination against women because of pregnancy, childbirth and childbirth recovery, and it expressly prevents employers from treating pregnant women less favorably than others who aren't pregnant but have similar work abilities.
