Law Firms Dominate DC New Office Leasing In 2013

Law360, New York (January 22, 2014, 7:11 PM EST) -- Law firms eclipsed a staggered federal government in new office leases in the Washington, D.C., last year, as well as all other industries, according to data released last week by real estate broker and consultant Cushman & Wakefield.

A surge in new beltway firm office deals came in a year when many short-term office deals signed in the anxious, post-2008 crisis period expired, said executive managing director Sherry Cushman. Meanwhile, government leasers that historically dominate the D.C. real estate market sat the year out.
