Ex-Prof. Says Martoma Ditched Him After Tips Led To Trades

Law360, New York (January 22, 2014, 8:08 PM EST) -- Ex-SAC Capital Advisors LP portfolio manager Mathew Martoma dropped out of contact with a former university professor whose tips allegedly helped him make $276 million trading in pharmaceutical companies, the professor testified Wednesday at Martoma’s insider trading trial.

Former University of Michigan professor Sidney Gilman said in New York federal court that he never saw Martoma after a July 2008 research conference at which Gilman presented results of a trial into the experimental Alzheimer’s drug bapineuzumab.
