Nissan, Ad Agency Settle FTC Charges Over False Truck Ad

Law360, New York (January 23, 2014, 5:31 PM EST) -- Nissan North America Inc. and advertising agency TBWA Worldwide Inc. have agreed to settle U.S. Federal Trade Commission charges that they used deceptive advertising techniques in a commercial for the Nissan Frontier pickup truck.

The proposed settlement — which is subject to public comment for 30 days, after which the FTC will decide whether to make the orders final — will prohibit Nissan and TBWA  from misrepresenting any material quality of feature of a pickup truck "through the depiction of a test, experiment, or demonstration."
