Union Membership Rate Held Steady In 2013

Law360, New York (January 24, 2014, 8:20 PM EST) -- A dip in the rate of public-sector union membership in 2013 was counterbalanced by a growth in private-sector membership, keeping the rate of overall membership the same as in the previous year, according to data released by the U.S. government Friday.

Data released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that the percentage of wage and salary workers who were members of unions in 2013 was 11.3 percent, the same as in 2012.
