TD Ameritrade Can't Access Docs In IP Fight: Texas Court

Law360, New York (January 24, 2014, 6:20 PM EST) -- A Texas appeals court on Thursday vacated a discovery order handed down by a trial court that would allow TD Ameritrade Inc. access to documents related to risk model software designed by a competitor's employees.

After TD Ameritrade claimed the information it sought was necessary to move forward with its case against PrairieSmarts LLC and four of its workers — all former TD Ameritrade employees — who allegedly stole the technology from TD Ameritrade, Tarrant County Judge David L. Evans issued the order.
