Beer Drinkers Can’t Revive Anheuser-Modelo Monopoly Suit

Law360, San Francisco (January 24, 2014, 5:08 PM EST) -- A California federal judge on Friday ended efforts by a group of beer drinkers to revive their antitrust case opposing Anheuser-Busch InBev’s $20.1 billion acquisition of Group Modelo, rejecting arguments that the defendant companies abandoned a competitive pricing agreement they promised to follow.

In a brief written order, U.S District Court Judge Maxine Chesney dashed the plaintiffs’ bid to leverage their monopoly claims with new information about price increases on beer.
