Oil Co. Exec Gets 30 Years For Defrauding Investors

Law360, Los Angeles (January 24, 2014, 6:28 PM EST) -- A Texas federal judge on Friday sentenced the chairman of an oil and gas well promotions company to 30 years in prison for allegedly duping investors into funding a $3.5 million drilling project, the U.S. Department of Justice said.

U.S. District Judge Sidney A. Fitzwater also ordered Kentucky resident David Kevin Lewis, 52, to pay roughly $2.5 million in restitution after a Texas federal jury convicted him in September on one count of conspiracy to commit securities fraud and 23 counts of securities fraud.
