FTC Win Casts Cloud Over Hospital-Doc Deals

Law360, New York (January 27, 2014, 6:54 PM EST) -- A highly anticipated antitrust ruling Friday shows that hospitals can't hide behind Affordable Care Act incentives for coordination to justify aggressive acquisitions of physician practices, according to experts who say the Federal Trade Commission and courts are clearly willing to block even small deals that improve treatment quality if they appear likely to drive up costs.
